Luxembourg, 13 July 2022 – The GGF Technical Assistance Facility, in partnership with the Renewables Academy (RENAC), successfully hosted a study tour in Berlin for the successful graduates of the 2nd edition of its flagship GGF Green Finance Expert Course. The course aims at enhancing the green finance expertise of the representatives of financial institutions from markets where GGF operates. There were 46 successful graduates from 20 GGF partner institutions across 10 countries – including credit officers, risk analysts, project finance specialists, E&S officers, heads of branches and departments, and other professionals.
During the study tour, participants engaged in interactive and practical seminars on renewable energy market design, institutional framework, financing, and due diligence, and utilized financial models for evaluating renewable energy projects. In addition, the participants visited successful green projects, including the energy self-sufficient village of Feldheim, and discussed the recent developments in the German energy transition, as well as renewable energy legislation and international energy cooperation with the German Energy Agency (dena).
The 2nd edition of the course, which was concluded in 2021, enabled participants to pursue specialized topics such as energy efficiency in buildings and industry, renewable energy, and greening the financial institution. To date, around 150 participants have been trained under the GGF Green Finance Expert Course, with more than 7500 people across GGF’s regions of operation having received trainings under various GGF driven initiatives.
GGF Technical Assistance Facility Chairperson Klaus-Peter Pischke said: “The best way to drive change towards a low-carbon future is by capacitating individuals with the skills and resources needed to drive a green transformation. We are proud of the success the Green Finance Expert course has had thus far and look forward to future successes.”
The applications for the 4th edition of the GGF Green Finance Expert course will open in summer 2022.
